Cost an arm and a leg!

Today's idiom is:

to cost an arm and a leg

When something is very expensive we say it costs an arm and a leg. Simple as that.

Example 1

A: Your new car is amazing.

B:It should be. It cost an arm and a leg.

Example 2

A: Your computer must have cost an arm and a leg.

B: It wasn't cheap, that's for sure.
